I am impressed with the diversity of businesses on the Avenue. However, the appearance of the storefronts continues to be haphazard and tacky in some cases. I remember when the Avenue storefront presentations were harmonious and consistent, which gave an air of sophistication. That same approach has been used to good effect at Highland Park's strip mall where the Aldi's store is located. All the storefronts have black awnings and similar architectural features. The entire development looks well thought out and attractive.
