I am a painter. The element of texture dominates my work. Early on I was fascinated by the overlooked surfaces of rock, bark and asphalt. My work from the late 90‘s to 2002 often incorporated those items throughout. As I progressed, I began to think about the physical beings that may have interacted with the land. To reference this I used transparent images of my ancestors, imbedding them into the surfaces of my paintings. Going further, the work began to transform itself into hybrid landscapes, evoking mental images of both earth and water.
